Digital manufacturing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a revolutionary process that allows the creation of physical objects from a digital model. Therefore, we developed a digital manufacturing robot cell for INEGI, whose main function is the production of various components through the deposition of fibers.

Industrial robotic play a crucial role in the automation of digital manufacturing processes, which is considered one of the key technologies of the fourth industrial revolution. In this article, we will explain how this cell works and address the potential of digital manufacturing.

The cell is composed of a robot, which works on one axis in two distinct areas. On one side we have fiber placement in static molds (resistance table) and on the other side, fiber placement in revolution components (rotary positioner).

The resistance table has five independent working zones, with the capacity to reach 150°C. Here, we have fiber deposition in static molds.

In the case of fiber deposition in revolution molds, the rotary positioner can handle shafts with a maximum inner diameter of 200 mm and outer diameter between 50 and 350 mm. In addition, it can manufacture revolution parts with a maximum radius of 1250 mm and a total load of 1000 kg.

Main advantages of additive manufacturing:

One of the main advantages of digital manufacturing is its versatility, which allows the production of highly customized parts, adapted to the specific needs of each project.

Reduced production time is another major advantage of additive manufacturing. The potential of this area is immense and goes far beyond the simple production of parts. The creation of geometrically overly complex parts becomes possible with this method. This opens the door to innovation and the development of new products and solutions in various sectors.
